YearSeptember 3, 2021
Because of the still ongoing pandemic (will we ever see the end of it?), there was no Fête de la Musique going on this year in Lausanne. Not to worry, though! We were instead treated with a brilliant 2nd edition of the RIPOSTE! music festival, a free event created for the specific purpose of supporting Lausanne’s cultural institutions. The parks and paths of Montbenon were a site of choice to host a number of indoor and outdoor concerts, which were accessible to spectators with a COVID certificate. Lausanne’s Fête de la Musique organized the program, which consisted of local artists performing every Thursday between July 21 and August 14, 2021. It also had the pleasure of opening the festivities with a performance by renowned violinist Renaud Capuçon! The evening festivities celebrated artists from very diverse musical backgrounds, as the Fête de la Musique is “a festival for all musics, for all audiences”. This means that we also provided live coverage for the occasion! The Mondays team loves going live, being on site and at the heart of the action. It’s one of our specialties, and we’ve sorely missed doing so! Women at the front of the stage This year, a largely feminine line-up of artists celebrated the 50th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Switzerland. The Fête de la Musique furthermore signed the Keychange chart in 2019, thereby committing to attaining male-female parity for their 2022 artist line-up, in every musical genre (jazz, modern music, classical music, choirs, traditional music, etc). All for music In total, we were there for 6 incredible evening shows; in spite of the occasional storm, the audience was very enthusiastic, and the artists performed flawlessly. As the Fête de la Musique’s official communications partner, we covered the event with over 120 stories and posts on Instagram to witness this exceptional event. However, we still hope that it will have reverted back to its original COVID-less formula by next year! Our social pages here, here or here.
